To say that LAGFERRY has provided a safe, efficient, and reliable water transportation services to the people of Lagos state is simply stating the obvious.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his part has done well with his vision for water transportation in Lagos State as he has been able to create an efficient, reliable, and sustainable mode of transportation that meets the need of the growing population. He has completed strategic projects, leveraging technological innovations with the aim of making water transportation an attractive option for commuters as well as optimizing the blue economy potential of Lagos waterways.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY), AbdoulBaq Ladi Balogun, has revealed that the agency is utilising the waterways to showcase the beauty of Lagos.
He made this revelation during a recent boat ride event tagged: ‘Ignite Lagos 2.0 Water Steeze’ edition.
Balogun posited that the programme was meant to welcome Lagosians to a new year, adding that it was a yearly programme showcasing the beauty of Lagos to the world. According to him, LAGFERRY is bringing entertainment and tourism to the waterways.
“Apart from the regular transportation on the waterways, transporting goods and people in Lagos, one can actually have fun in a relaxed atmosphere while on board a boat on the waterways.
“We are demonstrating to the world that Lagos State is an ideal spot for entertainment and tourism, but this time on the waterways,” he said.
He noted that the success of the first edition had translated into several memoranda of understanding and business interests, as private sector individuals had approached them for collaboration.
“I assure you that by next year’s edition, the private sector would have taken it over. When we had International Women’s Day in March 2021, the 2022 and 2023 editions were taken over by the private sector, and it has continued to this day,” he explained.
According to him, Lagos was doing much to tap into that huge potential in the marine economy.
This, he said, was to strategically position Lagos Ferry Services, taking care of the commercial end of water transportation.
Balogun noted that ever since Lagos waterways had witnessed a revolution in terms of watercraft equipment, jetty development, and terminal building, and even equipment.
“The boat we are presenting to the world today is actually built in Lagos and is comparable to any boat one can see all over the world in terms of safety gadgets and other things that make for a good sailing experience.
“This is exactly what we are offering to the world through Lagos State Ferry Services.”

Pendant ce temps, le directeur général / chef de la direction de Lagos State Ferry Services (Lagferry), Abdoulbaq ladi Balogun, a révélé que l’agence utilise les voies navigables pour présenter la beauté de Lagos.
Il a fait cette révélation lors d’un récent événement en bateau Tagged: «Ignite Lagos 2.0 Water STEEZE».
Balogun a postulé que le programme était destiné à accueillir les Lagosiens à une nouvelle année, ajoutant qu’il s’agissait d’un programme annuel présentant la beauté de Lagos au monde. Selon lui, Lagferry apporte des divertissements et du tourisme dans les voies navigables.
«Outre le transport régulier sur les voies navigables, le transport des marchandises et des habitants de Lagos, on peut réellement s’amuser dans une atmosphère détendue à bord d’un bateau sur les voies navigables.
“Nous démontrons au monde que l’État de Lagos est un endroit idéal pour le divertissement et le tourisme, mais cette fois sur les voies navigables”, a-t-il déclaré.
Il a noté que le succès de la première édition s’était traduit par plusieurs mémorandums de compréhension et d’intérêts commerciaux, car les individus du secteur privé les avaient approchés pour collaboration.
«Je vous assure que par édition de l’année prochaine, le secteur privé l’aurait repris. Lorsque nous avons eu la Journée internationale de la femme en mars 2021, les éditions 2022 et 2023 ont été prises en charge par le secteur privé, et cela a continué à ce jour », a-t-il expliqué.
Selon lui, Lagos faisait beaucoup pour exploiter cet énorme potentiel dans l’économie marine.
Ceci, a-t-il dit, devait positionner stratégiquement les services de ferry de Lagos, en prenant soin de la fin commerciale du transport de l’eau.
Balogun a noté que depuis les voies navigables de Lagos, avait été témoin d’une révolution en termes d’équipement de motomarines, de développement de jetée et de construction de terminaux, et même d’équipement.
«Le bateau que nous présentons au monde aujourd’hui est en fait construit à Lagos et est comparable à n’importe quel bateau que l’on peut voir partout dans le monde en termes de gadgets de sécurité et d’autres choses qui font une bonne expérience de voile.
“C’est exactement ce que nous offrons au monde via les services de ferry de l’État de Lagos.”
